Getting Started

Welcome to the KiwiRail Customer Portal. We're happy to have you aboard.

Explore the articles below to easily set up and manage your Rail Freight Portal account.

Become a KiwiRail Customer

Become a KiwiRail customer today and benefit from low cost, low emission freight across New Zealand's largest land transportation network.

  1. Go to https://railfreight.kiwirailfreight.co.nz/new-account/

  2. Provide your contact details, company name and location.

  3. Our sales team will be in touch within 2 working days to get you started.

Create Your Company Account

Before accessing the portal for the first time, you will need to have a credit account set up with our sales team.

As part of your credit account set up, we will create your portal account. If you need any modifications to your company account reach out to our teams here.

Note: We do not create portal accounts for one off bookings. If you’re wanting to make a one off booking, please fill out your details on our quote form here and we’ll be in touch.

Create Your User Account

To access your company’s account, you will need your work email address and your company’s Freight Payer Code.

  1. Go to the portal login page here.

  2. Click Sign up at the bottom of the page.

  3. Click Create a user account.

    If your company doesn’t have a KiwiRail account, click on Become a customer of KiwiRail.

  1. Enter your work email address and click SEND VERIFICATION CODE.

  2. A code will be sent to your email. Enter that code in the “Verification Code” box and click VERIFY CODE.

  3. Complete the rest of the form including your Freight Payer Code and click Create Your Account.

  4. Your account will be created and a request for access will be sent to your company admins.

  5. Once your company admins approve your account, you’re good to go!

If you do not know what your Freight Payer code is, get this from your company’s admin.

Your password is stored securely by Microsoft.
KiwiRail does not have access to your password, and we will never ask you for it.

Access Your Company

To access your company’s portal account, you will need to request access from your company admins.

This is not how you get access to a secondary Freight Payer. To get access to a secondary Freight Payer, contact them directly for permission.

  1. Sign in to your account. (If you don’t have a user account yet, create one here.)

  2. Click on your name in the bottom left corner, then click “My Account”.

  3. Enter the Freight Payer code in the “Request account access” box at the bottom of the page and click Request Access.

  4. Your access request will be emailed to your company admins who will need to approve your access on the portal.

  5. Your portal will show a no access page, until your company admin approves your access:

  6. Once your access has been approved, refresh your page and you will be able to access the account.
